       ABOUT THE MUSIC AND SFX

These files contains the AdLib music and sounds for the platform
game "Lollypop", by Brain Bug. Although this was spread in 1996,
the music and SFX was actually done back in 1993. Thomas "Drax"
Mogensen and Torben "Metal" Hansen composed all the music using
the EdLib editor. All the SFX was done directly in the player by
       Jens-Christian Huus.

Most of the SFX does not allow you to choose a new SFX until the
one playing is finished. This was done to make sure that the SFX
would "play out" in the game. Some of the SFX even requires you
to wait until the previous SFX has ended. If you want to be sure
you hear all the SFX properly, always press the ENTER key after
each SFX. This will cut all the voices.

The screens were also sent to the game designers. This explains
why some of the screens have dark gray or orange textlines. When
a screen was initially designed, all of the lines were dark gray
(indicating that the SFX or music wasn't done yet). As soon as a
SFX or a piece of music had been created, the relevant line was
changed to light gray - or orange, if I wasn't satisfied myself.

Notice that there is a MAIN block. This block contains all the
general music and sounds used in all levels throughout the game.
The other files contains level specific stuff which was combined
with the MAIN block. The "Underground" level, however, has its
own MAIN block since this level took place in a big cavern. Most
of the SFX in this level have delayed echo effects.

There are in fact 9 voices in the OPL2 mode of the Adlib chip. I
reserved 4 of them for SFX and 5 for music. Only the "ZAKMIX4"
block contains music which uses all 9 voices simultaneously.

If you run the screens in a full-screen DOS session, you'll see
a strange gray blob in the border of the screen. This is the CPU
time the player uses. It seems as if it requires quite a lot of
time. However, 99% of the time is spent "waiting" for the AdLib
soundchip to acknowledge the commands I sent to it! If the chip
could respond immediately (like the OPL3 chip in e.g. SB16 and
AWE32 does), it would only take one rasterline of CPU usage.

By the way, you can use the CTRL key as a "fast forward" button.

Have fun with the music and sounds!
