              HeadRoom Swap Manager Version 1.00
                Release notes for version 1.00

Please read the HeadRoom documentation carefully before
attempting to run HeadRoom. Even expert users should examine the
documentation, and at least glance at the tutorial section in
order to learn how to load TSRs into HeadRoom.

A few hints to get you going more quickly:

1. If your TSR does not work once it has been swapped out,
you'll need to set swap-in events. See chapter 4.

2. To pop HEADROOM up in Microsoft Windows, press and hold
Ctrl, Alt and both SHIFT keys for one second. When you let go
of these keys, HEADROOM will pop up. Also, if you are running
Windows/286, you may use the HIMEM.SYS driver only if you do
NOT swap to extended memory.

3. DO NOT USE MOUSE.SYS. If you've installed MOUSE.SYS in your
CONFIG.SYS file, take it out. Load MOUSE.COM after you've
swapped out all the TSRs you plan to use. Also load a fresh
copy of MOUSE.COM in each new application partition you create.

4. You must NOT USE the DOS SHARE command with HEADROOM. If you
want to use HEADROOM on a network which has file sharing
activated, please contact our customer service department about
upgrading to the network version of HEADROOM. Also remove any
FCBS= command from your CONFIG.SYS.

5. If you have a problem swapping applications, try typing the
following command BEFORE loading HEADROOM:
	SET COMSPEC=C:\COMMAND.COM

6. Once you've saved the configuration, you should use a disk
optimizer program to make sure the swap files you've created
are contiguous. This can speed swapping up by as much as a
factor of 10!

7. Note for keyboard macro program users: If you only have a
few macros defined, it is more efficient to set up the macro
keys as activation keys rather than setting a keyboard swap in
event. For example, if you only have macros defined for the
CTRL/1, CTRL/2 and CTRL/3 keys, and you don't use other macros,
you'll be better off if you set up these three keys in the
activation key section of HeadRoom. This way your macro
program will only be swapped in to handle the keys that
actually require the program's attention.

8. Three new swap-in events have been added. These events are
"user defined," that is, you may define the interrupt number that
is associated with each event. To set the interrupt number for
these events you must enter -Uxxx on the command line when you
load headroom where xxx is the DECIMAL interrupt number. For
example, the command:
	HR -U61 -U112
sets up user defined interrupts 1 and 2 to trap interrupts 61
and 112 (3DH and 70H). You may then set swap-in events to load
TSRs into memory when these interrupts occur.
